Trained as a furniture designer and architect, Timo Ripatti has worked extensively in the design field.
Her professional background ranges from lighting and furniture design to large-scale architecture, exhibition and interior design projects in Finland and abroad with occasional participation in art gallery exhibitions.
Today, he is head of his own company Ripatti Studio located in Helsinki and works mainly in the field of product design with customers across Europe.
His mission is to combine aesthetic, poetic and functional qualities in his work. He strives to create human-sized products that work in perfect balance with space and architecture.
The awards received by Timo Ripatti are numerous: the furniture prize of the year in Finland in 2009; the furniture designer of the year award in Finland in 2010; the honorary mention Red Dot (member of the Kone design team) in 2012; and the Lexus Lexus Finland Lexus Creating Amazing Award in 2013; NYCxDESIGN Award at ICFF, New York in 2016.
Timo Ripatti worked as a member of the iF Award jury in 2015, and is a professor of furniture design at Aalto University Helsinki and at the Institute of Design and Fine Arts in Lahti.
In 2016, he created the U-Light collection for Axolight.
