Jean-Michel Wilmotte is a French architect, designer and town planner. He was born in 1945 in Soissons. In 1975, he founded his architectural practice Wilmotte & Associates in Paris. The firm's activities range from architectural projects to urban planning, as well as product and museum design. Today, Wilmotte & Associates has divided into two main entities – the architectural practice Wilmotte & Associates and the design studio Wilmotte & Industries.
Recognized for his eclectic approach of detailing with the highest quality materials, Jean-Michel Wilmotte designs shops, luxury hotels, housing, and public facilities. With more than 200 on staff representing more than 20 different nationalities, Jean-Michel Wilmotte produces works in over 20 countries.
In 2005, Jean-Michel Wilmotte created the Wilmotte Foundation to encourage the highest standards in contemporary design and to awaken up-coming generations of architects to the importance of marrying heritage and innovation.
He designed the table lamp Washington for Lumen Center Italia.
