Front Design is a collective of four young, pretty Swedish designers who have the wind in their sails: the biggest publishers are snapping them up!

Situated on the border between contemporary art and industrial design, their creations are part of an offbeat, provocative universe. At the forefront of Dutch design, Sofia Lagerkvist, Charlotte von der Lancken, Anna Lindgren and Katja Sävström met while studying industrial design at the Stockholm School of Design, Applied Arts and Fine Arts. It didn't take long for their incredibly innovative and conceptual projects to cause a sensation in the design world. It all happened very quickly: only a few years separated their lives as design students in Stockholm from international recognition with prestigious collaborations and exhibitions in Milan, Tokyo and Amsterdam.

With Front, even the most bizarre ideas often lead to the experimental development of real products, not just a one-off artistic project. In 2004, at the Milan Furniture Fair, they caused a sensation by letting animals (rats and snakes) create patterns on wallpaper and carpets. Chance was introduced as a decisive factor in the creative process.
But the collective's most talked-about project was Sketch furniture in 2006. The initial idea was to produce real objects from simple sketches, drawn with a finger in the air. The stereolithography process, coupled with a system of motion-recognition sensors, enabled them to draw an object in the air and see it realized in resin. That same year in Milan, their Horse floor lamp, a life-size horse, fascinated fans of unusual design on the Moooi stand.
They also work for Zero Lighting.
