Founded in 2010 by Tuula Hocksell and Leena Liedenpohja, the Pilke brand is a clever mix of authenticity and modernity. The goal is to design lighting fixtures that will last from generation to generation.

From Finnish forests, all Pilke lampshades are made of wood and systematically plywood in Finnish birch certified FSC or PEFC. The brand uses modern water-cutting technology to create geometric pieces without leaving marks on the edges. For the composition of the lampshades, neither glue nor screws are used, each piece is assembled by hand.

With Finnish designers, materials, craftsmanship and production, sustainability and "slow production" are the spearhead of the Pilke house. Thus, the House favors local production, the responsible selection of recycled and natural materials and the avoidance of air freight.

In the fall of 2021 Pilke integrated the Swedish design company Maze.
